We are pleased to announce that bookings for the 2026 season officially opened on 1 February 2026. Reservations are now being welcomed for trips aboard Ernest Thomas II for the year ahead.
About Our Trips
All journeys aboard Ernest Thomas II operate on designated days at designated times, with trips ranging from three to six hours in duration.
These are not overnight holidays or multi-day hire trips. Instead, each cruise is a carefully planned day experience, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy the canal at a relaxed pace without the responsibility of operating the vessel.
Every trip is skippered by a trained and experienced member of our volunteer crew, allowing guests to sit back and enjoy the scenery and heritage of the waterways.
Open to All and Supporting the Community
Our trips are open to everyone and we are especially pleased to accommodate:
- Elderly groups
- Disability groups
- Youth organisations
- Community and social groups
Where possible, we can offer flexibility around start times to help meet specific group requirements. Our aim is to make canal experiences accessible, welcoming and enjoyable for as many people as possible.
A Volunteer-Run Registered Charity
The entire operation of Ernest Thomas II is run by dedicated volunteers. We are a registered charity and non-profit making organisation. Every trip supports our continued work in providing accessible canal experiences for the community. We are extremely grateful to our volunteer team, whose commitment and enthusiasm make these journeys possible.
Book Early for 2026
As trips operate on specific dates and with limited capacity, early booking is recommended. Booking early ensures:
- Availability on your preferred date
- Suitable arrangements for group visits
- Time to coordinate any particular requirements
Online and Telephone Reservations Available
Following the launch of our new website, we have introduced an updated online booking system to make reservations more straightforward. Through our website, you can view available dates and submit a reservation request online. Payments continue to be arranged offline so that details can be confirmed personally.
We are also very happy to take reservations by telephone. If you would prefer to speak directly to a member of the team to discuss accessibility needs, group arrangements or general enquiries, please do get in touch.
